We love seeing different ideas and themes here at Prairie Winds and this reception was one to remember! This couple embraced their different cultures and celebrated the uniting of them by doing a Dutch and Hispanic themed wedding reception in December. The couples creativity was everywhere you looked.
The tables were lined with a classic black linen and napkins and decorated with a pair of Dutch clogs. Orange City being a strong Dutch community that it is, many friends and family were able to help provide the colorful clogs. Tulips, Wilhelmina peppermints, a Stroopwafel tower even children dressed in traditional Dutch dress helped reflect Emily McDonald’s Dutch heritage. The couples cake topper was traditional Dutch people kissing, the king’s table was lined with plates from McDonald’s grandmother. We loved the personal touch this gave the main hall.
Groom Jaime Miranda incorporated Hispanic decor to represent his cultural background. The papel picado hung high made this evening feel like a true celebration. Guests at the king’s table received a festive colored Jarrito (traditional Mexican soda) where they were seated, chicharones and Valentina salsa were offered at the snack table for guests to enjoy as well. Both families felt honored and happy to see the way both cultures could be united and we loved to be a part of helping it all come together and run smoothly!
