“It was truly the best day. Thank you for all you did for us”
-Mr. & Mrs. Kelling
Prairie Winds Event Center had the pleasure of hosting the wedding reception of Lauren Jungers and Joe Kelling on April 29, 2017. Lauren & Joe’s wedding was the first of many weddings to be held at PWEC under the management of Wesley Ruden & Amanda DeJong. The first time the happily engaged couple met with PWEC staff was very non-traditional. Their final meeting took place late March, about one month before their big day. The couple live streamed the meeting via FaceTime with the Mother of the Bride, Jeanne, and Wesley.
As April 29th rolled around, the forecasted cold, rainy day turned into a chilly, cloudy, yet perfect day. The somewhat gloomy sky was brightened with with smiles and love shared between Lauren & Joe. A 7:30 AM “decorating committee” arrived that morning to turn the venue into a glamorous stage for the Kelling reception. With the help of local wedding designer, Marilyn Dekker, and the Prairie Winds Event Center staff, the room was given an elegant upgrade with the popular shades of Ivory, Navy, and Gold. The most unique set-up of the event included a two-tiered head table, draped in ivory, floor-length linens to accompany the 18 members of the bridal party.
The beautiful bride and dapper groom made their way to the back pavilion located at Prairie Winds to take the traditional “first look” at each other while local photographers Jessica Bonestroo and Lauren McDonald captured the picturesque moments. The soon-to-be wed couple then took off from Orange City to Hospers, where the couple would later be married.
Post-ceremony celebrations began on the bridal party bus back from Hospers where the party was greeted by the wedding guests at Prairie Winds Event Center. The night continued with a feast of chicken, pork, potatoes, and vegetables, all provided by Timmy’s Catering of Le Mars. The bride & groom followed the meal by being serenaded with heartfelt, yet hilarious speeches from their friends and family members. They later participated in the ceremonial cutting of the cake before allowing guests to indulge on cupcakes provided by a family friend, Susie Hofman.
Hours of “dancing the night away” concluded the special day of the newlyweds. Multi-generational music from DJ Scruff of S&E Entertainment filled the event hall, along with the happy chatter and singing of guests. Once the clock struck midnight, the event was over but the joy and love was not.
We want to thank Mr. & Mrs. Kelling for allowing us at Prairie Winds Event Center to graciously host your wedding reception. We hope all who attended had a wonderful time and a night to remember. To Mr. & Mrs. Kelling and family, thank you for being amazing people to work with! We wish Lauren & Joe endless years of love and happiness!
